About
I’m committed to providing you with the best service possible. A happy customer is a returning customer and that is so very important to me. I am happy to discuss any idea large or small, where you think my service as a Lettering Artist can be useful to you. I have over 20 years experience in the Calligraphy and Lettering Art field. You can contact me at anytime either by emailing me at: inspiredbyscript@yahoo.co.uk or telephone on 01609 776 866 Sometimes we have to be away from the studio but I can be contacted at other times on my Mobile: 07816 537 275. If you would like to pop into the studio (and personally this is preferable as it is much easier one to one) and share your ideas then feel free to ring and make an appointment to ensure our best service to you and get directions.

Our Shop section only showcases a small proportion of the many items we have for sale in the Gallery and you would be more than welcome to come and browse.
Sue Simpson was born in North Yorkshire in 1961 and spent most of her childhood in Marske-by-the-Sea. In 1983 she moved to Northallerton.
After starting to teach CALLIGRAPHY in 1988, it became clear that there was so much more to be learnt that Sue spent the next 8 years studying with some of the top calligraphers in the country. This consisted of 1 and 2 day courses, and culminating in a full years Northern Advanced Calligraphy course (run by the Society of Scribes and Illuminators) and a years Extended Study Course directed by Peter Thornton. In 1995 she was awarded the National Diploma in Calligraphy where she was awarded a Distinction.
Her Calligraphy work has been displayed in a variety of local and national exhibitions and is in many public and private collections.
Commissions have included work for Teesside and Durham University’s, a well known local brewery, Hambleton District Council, graphic designers, printers as well as numerous private clients.
Sue’s interest in experimenting with CREATIVE BOOKBINDING began after a one day course. Her enthusiasm was born out of a desire to combine calligraphy, layout and design, graphic design, collage and other multi-media techniques as an alternative to lettering behind glass. Sue is purely self-taught in bookbinding and classes herself more as a keen enthusiast than a professional. Sue works with all kinds of texts from the amusing and formal to the more unconventional and inspirational. The end products are as unique and individual as the ideas that gave birth to them.
